Tour Itinerary

Note
You can join this Tour directly in Europe to avoid coming into the UK.
You can start on Day 1 in Brussels and on the last day leave at CDG Airport in Paris.

Day 1

London – Calais – Brussels – Strasbourg or North-eastern France Region (Distance: 790 Kms)

Today morning join up with your coach and depart towards Dover or Folkestone for your crossing to Calais or Dunkerque; you will require your passports at hand as we will cross the UK and French immigration, as well as security. The crossing on the ferry will last approx. 90 Minutes; 40 minutes if the crossing is from the Euro Tunnel train. Once we are in mainland Europe we make our way towards Belgium.

After Lunch, we continue to drive towards Brussels, the Capital of Belgium. Once we reach Brussels we take a photo stop at a giant stainless-steel atom, known as the “Atomium”; originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair. This unique structure is one of a kind and stands at 102 metres high. The nine massive stainless-steel spheres are connected so that the whole structure forms the shape of a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. After our quick photo stop here, we continue to drive towards our hotel.

We then proceed towards our hotel and restaurant, which can be located in the Northeastern Grand Est region of France (Metz or Nancy) or Strasbourg. Depending on the hotel location we either go to the restaurant for our Indian dinner, or we head towards the hotel, where dinner will be served late in the evening in one of the conference rooms by our very own caterers. We can then put our head down after our long day.

Day 2

Black Forest – Lake Titisee – Rhine Falls – Lucerne (Distance: 380 Kms)

Today morning after breakfast, we check out of the hotel and board the coach heading South-East. We continue our drive into Germany. Whilst we drive through the Black Forest, enjoy the tree-lined alpine views, and be fascinated by the deep gorges along the way. We then arrive at the small town of Titisee-Neustadt in the middle of the Black Forest, among dark fir trees, high hills, spectacular cliffs and gentle valleys sits the largest natural lake in the Black Forest, Titisee, which stretches for some 2 km (over 1 mile). Here enjoy some free time to wonder the quaint streets and relax by the lake or shop for locally made cuckoo clocks as well as a varied selection of souvenirs. After your shopping trip, we have our Indian lunch, before we head towards Switzerland.

We continue our journey heading South of Germany and into Schaffhausen a city in north-eastern Switzerland on the river Rhine, next to the German border. On arrival why not take the time to admire the prime tourist attraction of the Rhine Falls, Europe’s largest open-plain waterfalls. You have the time to enjoy a quick trip to the centre of falls on the erosion resistant rock or simply bide the short time we have here admiring the beauty from the banks of the River Rhine with the Wörth Castle in the backdrop.

We re-join our coach and make our way towards Central Switzerland, and to Lucerne. In Lucerne spend the time admiring Lake Luzern, the fourth largest lake in Switzerland, with Mt Pilatus, Mt Rigi and the Swiss Alps in the background, or take a wonderful walk around the Old Town in the pretty cobbled streets. Don’t forget to walk and view the Chapel Bridge also known as Kapellbrücke, the famous 204 meters long wooden covered bridge originally built in 1333, regarded as the oldest covered bridge in Europe. We later visit the Lion Monument, or the Lion of Lucerne, a rock relief, designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen. It commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution when revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris. The carving has often been heralded as “the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world”.

We board back onto the coach after another fun filled day heading for our evening Indian meal and hotel. It is time to pack our bags again for our checkout tomorrow morning where we make our way towards Geneva and Interlaken.
B,L,D

Day 3

Mt Titlis – Interlaken – Geneva (Distance: 340 Kms)

After breakfast today we ascend 10,000ft to the summit of Mt. Titlis. We take a small cable car or funicular depending on the time of the year before we take the world’s first revolving cable car, the Titlis Rotair. The Rotair makes one full revolution whilst we ascend to the top of Mt Titlis giving you a 360-degree view of the Uri Alps. Once we reach the top you can not only enjoy the breath-taking panoramic views of the surrounding Swiss landscapes, but you will have ample time to take pictures in traditional Swiss outfits, buy souvenirs and walk the highest Cliff Walk, a suspended pedestrian bridge along the cliff of Mount Titlis 3,000 m above sea level, it is believed to be the highest elevation suspension bridge in Europe (subject to operation). Spend the morning playing in the snow and visit the ice caves.

On Mt Titlis, you can also enjoy the optional Ice Flyer (subject to operation). The Ice Flyer chairlift sweeps you smoothly and safely over crisp, virgin snowfields and icy depths. Some of the crevasses are up to twenty metres deep. Only on Mt Titlis can you expect such a fantastic glacier experience, and don’t forget to smile as you can purchase a perfect souvenir of your picture from the photo studio shop.

We make our way down in the early afternoon for our well-deserved Indian lunch from all the activities of the morning. Once our energy levels are back up from our lunch, we board our coach and make our way down from Engelberg to the beautiful city of Interlaken.

In the afternoon we reach Interlaken, a small town nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The Höheweg is Interlaken’s main street which runs between Interlaken West and Interlaken Ost Railway Stations, spend the time shopping away for souvenirs along the high street or simply admire the rich views of the Bernese Alps. Why not wander through the Kursaal Garden, where you can see a 350 Kg statue of the renowned Indian filmmaker, the late Yash Chopra.

We transfer back to our coach heading towards the city of Geneva.

Once we reach Geneva in the evening, we make a couple of short photo stops. We make our way to the “Jardin Anglais”, known as the English Gardens. Here we stop for photos of the National Monument, which features lady Geneva and Lady Helvetica; also see the Flower Clock an iconic outdoor flower clock designed in 1955, made with colourful blooms that change seasonally, and finally of the Jet d’Eau (subject to operation), a fountain, lit up at night, pumping half a cubic meter of water per second 140m into the air.

We then finish our quick trip to Geneva by heading towards the restaurant and hotel. We have our buffet Indian dinner before we pack in for the night.

Day 4

Geneva – Paris (Distance: 580 Kms)

Today after breakfast check out of the hotel, and we make our way towards Paris. You will not be reaching Paris until late in the afternoon, and we will be stopping on route for Lunch. The lunch stop will only sell continental food, and there will be no fast food restaurants located within the services.

On arrival in the “City of Lights” – Paris, we make our way to the renowned, and world recognised the Eiffel Tower. Your journey will take you to the top of the Eiffel Tower. It should be noted that as the Eiffel Tower is the worlds most visited paid monument you should expect long security and ticket queues as reservations are not always available. Additionally, you will be provided tickets for the highest floor possible, should the top floor ticket not be available or closed then the ticket difference will be reimbursed to you on the completion of your tour. On instances we may conduct Montparnasse Tower, where the Eiffel Tower is closed due to national holidays, Bastille day parades etc., or non-operational due to any other reason, an advanced warning will not be given in relation to the change of monument.

In the evening we will then make our way to the restaurant for our group buffet meal, on the allocation of our entry time enjoy your Indian dinner and then settle back in your seats on the coach for a night tour of Paris.

We then commence the Paris Illumination Tour, which lasts 90 Minutes and takes you around the key sights of Paris at Night, see the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Concorde and Invalides from the comfort of your coach, with the magnificent street lights and monumental lights gravitating you towards the wonderful sights and monuments. See the Eiffel Tower sparkle on the hour, for five minutes immersing you in the city of Paris, and truly recognise why it has been nicknamed the “City of Lights”.

We then late in the night make our way to the hotel for our two-night stay. Get a good night’s sleep as more wonders await you tomorrow.

Day 5

Disneyland® Resort Paris (Distance: 100 Kms)

After your continental breakfast, we board the coach or our transfer vehicles for the world-famous Disneyland® Resort Paris. The transfer vehicles or coaches will take you to “the happiest place on earth”.

Your tickets given to you today will entitle you to enter any one of the two theme parks that are present at Disneyland® Resort Paris.

You can choose between Disneyland® Park; which explores five themed lands filled with Disney classic stories and fairy tales. Spanning 140 acres, it is dedicated to Disney characters creating fairy tales for all. The park is home to the famous “Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant”, a replica of the fairy tale castle seen in Disney’s 1959 animated film Sleeping Beauty.

Alternatively, you can choose Walt Disney Studios® Park; it is dedicated to show-business, themed after movies, production, and behind-the-scenes. The behind-the-scenes destination sensation allows you to experience movie and cinema sets coming to life. Whichever park you choose the day will be full of magic that only Disney can deliver.

In the early evening we leave the park; so, should you wish to stay back and view the night parade and closing ceremony, you will forgo the “Paris night tour” (If not done on day 4) and dinner, and will need to make your own way back to the hotel using the taxi service or trains the park has to offer.

Once we leave the park in the early evening, we will then make our way to the restaurant for Indian dinner, on the allocation of our entry time enjoy your meal and then we continue back to the hotel, getting ready to check out of the hotel tomorrow.

Day 6

Paris – Calais – London (Distance: 460 Kms)

Today morning we check out of the hotel after breakfast and load the luggage depending on your final drop off point.

We then make our way back to the centre of Paris, where we embark on the famous “Bateaux” cruises of Paris for our one-hour cruise along the River Seine, we cover the stunning architecture that Paris has to offer on sights such as the Grand Palais, Petite Palais, Pont Alexandre 3rd bridge, National Assembly, Invalides and of course the spectacular Eiffel Tower. The glass-covered boat is at your disposal, choose to sit inside or outside whilst listening to the commentary of the sights.

Whilst travelling around Paris you would have covered various other sights including the Vendome, home to the Ritz Hotel; Concorde square made famous during the French revolution and Avenue des Champs Élysées, the largest tree-lined boulevard in Paris.

We then depart Paris and make our way towards Calais, not before stopping at an Indian restaurant for our last meal together. After Lunch, we continue to make our way back to London.

The journey back we say goodbye to friends we have made along the way as we drop off those getting off on the route.

Once we reach Calais, we cross over back into Dover or Folkestone depending on our crossing schedule for the tour on the day. We continue our journey towards Wembley and dropping passengers off at their respective drop-offs.

In most of Western Europe, the currency you will require will be Euros. When travelling in Switzerland, you will need Swiss Francs (CHF). It is possible to purchase items in Euros whilst in Switzerland (selected establishments) however it should be noted that the change will be given back in CHF.

Passengers should exchange any spending money for their holiday before they actually travel. Whilst on tour it is very inconvenient and not all places you will visit will have ATM machines or accept credit/debit cards.

We also advise our passengers to keep some change in coins on them whilst on tour as using toilets in many parts of Europe is not free.

USD, GBP or travellers’ cheques are not widely accepted at locations in this tour.

An important point to note whilst on a touring holiday is that some long journeys are unavoidable especially when travelling from city to city.

It is advisable passengers carry necessities that they may need for the day such as water, dry snacks, cameras etc. with them in their hand luggage.
For this tour, it should be noted that the travel times are extensive on this tour.

Not all hotels in this tour will have air-conditioning so you should carry a small portable fan with you especially during the summer months.

Please also note that not all hotels provide a kettle so if hot water is required for warming milk etc. in the hotel then it is advisable to carry a bottle warmer/kettle as well as a thermos flask. Passengers may also want to carry a small travel iron and hairdryer etc., as many hotel rooms may not have these facilities.

Some hotels in Europe, especially Switzerland will provide two single beds put together as a Double occupancy room, as this sort of configuration allows the hotel to use a room for multi-use, we do contract with such hotels, and you should be prepared for such eventualities.

If you use services such as the phone or mini-bar or pay TV whilst in your room, you will have to pay the hotel directly when you check out; these services are not included in your tour cost.

The maximum occupancy per room on this tour is 3 person(s).

High Altitude

You should only make trips to high altitudes if you feel healthy. The following recommendations apply:

Advanced age is no barrier to high altitude. For blood pressure patients who are well controlled with medication, the altitude is not a concern. Asthmatics can travel to high altitudes without any problems. High-altitude air is less polluted with particles that can cause an asthma attack. Epileptics who are well controlled with medication should be able to negotiate the altitude.

Pregnant women: There may be a certain risk for pregnancy even without pre-existing diseases over 2500-3000 metres. Caution is therefore advised if in doubt, please consult your doctor in advance.

Infants: Short-term stays at the mountain tops are unproblematic. Infants and young children are often unable to equalise pressure during descent and are therefore increasingly at risk of ear irritation. Regular swallowing (drinking, sucking on a bottle) during the descent can prevent the occurrence of irritation.

Because children can chill faster than adults, always pay attention to sufficient protection from the cold at high altitude. Sunglasses and a good sunscreen are necessary on the glaciers!

High altitude visits not recommended for:

Lung and heart patients who are already short of breath while at rest or when climbing stairs are advised not to stay at high altitude. Patients with angina pectoris or severely impaired performance with heart enlargement and heart failure should not visit high altitude. Coronary artery disease (angina pectoris) and heart enlargement with medical therapy should not visit high altitude. Patients with a pronounced risk profile for cardiovascular disease (smoker + high blood pressure + diabetes + high blood fats + overweight + occasional chest pain) should consult the doctor before visiting high altitude.

Do not stay at high altitude after having striated muscles or a stroke.

Disneyland® Paris

Disneyland Paris can get busy, especially at peak times, so it makes sense to orientate yourself before you arrive by going onto the website and looking at the latest map. There’s a lot to see so you might like to prioritise your must-do attractions to avoid disappointment. But one should try not missing the famous Disney Parades when the much-loved Disney characters take to the streets for a unique and interactive experience. Please note on this tour you will not be staying in Disney until it closes so you will not see the evening firework, Parade or illuminations. Should you wish to do this, then you will need to make your own way back to the Hotel, and you will miss the dinner and transfers for which no compensation will be due.

The resort itself comprises of two parks: The Disneyland Park, packed with rides and attractions, and the Walt Disney Studios Park. Your tickets will allow you access into any one of these parks.

When you arrive at the park, you might like to consider using the Fastpass service, a free service which helps you to cut down on waiting times for some of the attractions (subject to availability and operation).

Passengers should arrive at their pick-up point no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Your pick-up point, address and time will be stated on your invoice. If you have selected a pick-up time outside of Wembley, Southall or East Ham then you will be confirmed your pick-up time.

Return journeys from the continent are scheduled to arrive at Dover or Folkestone between 19.00hrs and 20.00hrs approximately. We will then proceed to the original pick-up points in London (arrival time between 22.30hrs and 00.30hrs+1)

Outside London pick up points: Transportation may be arranged by a private car, minibus or an alternative coach for your journey to and from London. On rare occasions, there may be up to an hour wait for a connecting transfer on the return. Passengers can expect to receive a call from Star to confirm details a day prior to their departure. Star Tours reserves the right to amend any pick-up time 12 hours prior to departure.

The below pick-up points may not be available for this tour:

Paris (Drop-off Only)

Dover (subject to availability)

A passport valid for three months beyond the length of stay and issued within the past ten years is required by all nationals. If you hold an Indian, Pakistani, or Bangladesh Passport, you must obtain a Schengen visa before travelling.

Many nationalities, such as British, EU and American nationals, do not require Schengen visas. Should you need further clarification, please get in touch with us.

Weather in much of Western Europe tends to be the same as in England and is unpredictable. Therefore, regardless of the time of the year, it is advisable to carry an umbrella.

Temperatures vary from place to place. Therefore, it is a good idea to check online for average temperatures for the destination(s) being visited, depending on the time of the year. On a multi-destination tour, passengers will likely travel through various weather fronts; whilst in Switzerland, during excursions to mountain tops, passengers may experience temperatures between 0 °c and 2 °c while simultaneously experiencing temperatures of over 30 °c whilst they are in France.

Passengers can be well prepared by carrying appropriate clothing, footwear and accessories. Passengers should also be aware that during the winter months, most of the sightseeing will be in the dark as, in Europe, the day becomes dark very early during winter.

We will accept lightweight manual wheelchairs for travel, subject to them being capable of being stowed in the luggage hold of the coach. It is also essential that a family member is also on tour to push their wheelchair. Star Tours will also request hotels for suitably equipped rooms; however, this is only on a request basis and cannot be guaranteed. It should be noted Mt Titlis & Eiffel Tower are not fully accessible for wheelchair users. In addition, Brussels, Luzern, Lion Monument, Pisa, Rome, Venice, and Florence will have cobbled streets, which may not be suitable for wheelchairs.

In most of Europe, the use of child seats in coaches is mandatory for children under the age of 12 or who are shorter than 150 cm. Children under 7 years old or less than 125 cm tall must use a child seat with a harness or a restraint system. Children between 7 and 12 years old or between 125 and 150 cm tall must use a booster seat or a seat cushion. It is the responsibility of the child’s parent or guardian to provide the appropriate child seat for their child.
